Are you going to be available on Azure Marketplace?
Thanks,
Richard.
Are you going to be available on Azure Marketplace?
Thanks,
Richard.
Yes, we are currently working with Azure representatives to increase the write performance of an Azure hosted solution. We will be prioritizing this shortly after releasing to the EU. We hope to be in Azure at the beginning of 2013.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus
I appreciate it's still the beginning of 2013 but do you have any update on this? I really want to be able to use RavenDB for an Azure hosted project I'm working on but I've been told it needs to be via a Marketplace offering rather than a 'do-it-yourself' implementation. If I can get an approximate date it may be enough for me to argue the case.
Thanks
Martin
Martin,
We're still working on increasing performance. Azure IO is very different from AWS. Our current projection is the very beginning of Q2.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus
Hello Martin,
any news about?
If I create a db today on the Amazon hosted environment can I move tomorrow to the Azure hosted environment?
Thank you,
Lorenzo
+1 bazillion please! Definitely something I would be paying for, right now! Any news on this? Still possibly a Q2 release?
So, This is the Q2..Any news?...Pretty desperate fot this..
+1 for this
+1 for this!
Hey guys,
Just an update on this feature. As I've stated in previous updates, we've been working to solve some major hurdles in terms of IO performance on Azure. Unfortunately, Microsoft was not able to guarantee an SLA for IO speeds on their virtual machine offering during their beta period, so we were not able to get consistent results during our testing. This has put us behind schedule on this feature.
Microsoft recently came out of Beta with their IAAS offering in mid April, so we're back to making progress on an Azure offering. However, we're still seeing a major difference in IO performance when compared to Amazon. We're confident that we can solve this hurdle. However, we're behind schedule. Our new target is Late Q2 to early Q3.
We're working to release as soon as we can. We'll keep you updated as we make progress.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus
Hi Jonathan,
news about RavenHQ on Azure?
The community needs responses about.
We are already in the middle of Q3 and it seems still there aren't news on the horizon.
What do you say?
Lorenzo
Lorenzo,
We have everything lined up for an Azure release. We're simply waiting on the next stable release of RavenDB 2.5. Once it's been released & we've verified that our issues have been resolved, we'll open up public beta for Azure.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus
:-)
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes ^ yes.
And when Azure I/O gets 'fixed' then we're all back in business!
Can't wait.
Jonathan,
the community ask for "how have you reached the performance Raven needs on Azure"?
Did you follow a fast track to get new microsoft functionality is not yet available to everyone?
Or have tinkered with the configuration until you get acceptable performance?
If there isn't a "trade secret"... can you share the strategy that you followed?
Thanks.
We've done our best to squeeze out as much performance as we can using a mixture of hardware configurations as well as new configurations in Raven 2.5. Though we're still not where we want to be long-term when compared to the performance potential in AWS, we think it's good enough for many systems. People who would prefer faster write speeds & can deal with higher request latency should provision their databases in AWS.
We're in the process of rolling out the latest Raven 2.5 stable release in AWS. Be looking for updates on our Azure release very soon.
Thanks,
Jonathan
Hmmmmm. That's not quite the announcement many of us were hoping for. :-D
I guess the good news is that there's no "secret performance booster" that Azure is giving out to preferred partners.
What sort of timeline is there for this? i have been writing solution that would be a good fit for raven on azure.
So are there any news about ravenhq on azure, do you plan maybe on making it as a Add-on on Azure store like on AppHarbor
Any update on Azure hosting?
After doing a private beta with Azure last year, we found that write performance wasn't up to snuff to provide an Azure offering at the time. We recently (as of 2 weeks ago) have tested changes in how we manage resources between databases that is allowing us to better manage IO performance. Also, Azure's IO has gotten better over the past few months. Though not as good as AWS, we believe that we can now offer a long-term Azure offering.
We're currently working full steam in integrating with the Azure market place. Our goal is within the March time frame, but it will depend on coordinating the release with the deployment of our resource management improvements.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus
wonderful news
"Our goal is within the March time frame"
So... its April now. :(
@Franjo Correct, it's April 2014.
They ment March 2020.
#sad panda
Side Note: Maybe they're waiting for either some RavenDb 3.0 love and/or Azure to get their shit into gear and get SSD's? Either way, having slow I/O is still better than not having a service at all IMO.
@Jonathan,
It is April 2014 - any chance for RavenHQ to show up on Azure market soon (and by that I mean realistically show up)?
Thanks,
Sean
@Jonathan,
I would really like to know this as well. Thanks!
Any updates on this? I know I'm still waiting. RavenHQ performance from Azure is just atrocious. :(
