It would be great to have an EU based Ravendb instances.

Andrew Flierman As I understand, RavenHQ is using the servers off AppHarbor.
AppHarbor is now active in the EU: http://blog.appharbor.com/2012/05/17/appharbor-in-the-eu
With the privacy statement in mind and the differences between the EU and US this would be a really nice feature.

Sean Kearon This is a killer feature. The data protection required to host EU citizen's personal data outside of the EU is pretty big, and the fines in the UK are large too. Personal data = anything that is specific to a living individual
AFAIK, Azure gives no guarantee that the data won't be shipped outside of the EU, which makes it just impossible to use Azure. It'd be great if RavenHQ would offer a plan that stayed in the EU.
Please do this!

Kmal Kmal Any update on this?

Jonathan Matheus Hey guys,
Sorry for the late reply. We weren't being notified of new feature request posts. To answer your question, we're planning on releasing support for databases in EU as well as Azure within the next 2 months, though we're still working out plans & pricing. We'll update you all as soon as we firm up the date.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus

Kamil Wojciechowski Hi Jonathan,
How is the progress on this request going ?
Cheers,
-
Jonathan Matheus Kamil,
We've been working to get the business and support side of this feature finalized. We plan to release EU support sometime between the end of July to mid August.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus

Kmal Kmal Hi,
how are things going with EU instances ? :)
-
Jonathan Matheus Things have been delayed for EU instances. We originally wanted to coordinate our release with RavenDB 1.2. That's been a bit delayed. We've decided to move forward with Raven server 960 and offer a beta for 1.2. We plan on releasing this month (October). If you are interested in being a beta tester for EU instances or for Raven 1.2, please contact us at our support email (support@ravenhq.com).
I'll update this feature request as soon as we have released official support.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus

Johannes Rudolph Hi Jonathan, What's the status of this? It's mid November by now... -
Jonathan Matheus Hi,
We've released support for EU instances! We are supporting both single and replicated plans & have spun up support teams in both hemispheres to make sure that you have ample support coverage. You can add an EU instance by adding a database in our account management UI and filtering by the European region. AppHarbor also has EU plans. Feel free to contact us through this website or by sending an email to support@ravenhq.com if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus

Kmal Kmal Hi,
It is great to hear that, but could you tell me why EU instances are more expensive than the US ones, please ?
-
Jonathan Matheus Hi Kmal,
Simply, it costs more to run in the EU than in the US. Infrastructure prices for servers and data in the EU are more expensive. We have also spun up a new support team in Europe to ensure that customers in the EU get the same quality support that customers in the other side of the hemisphere get. We've worked hard to ensure that European customers get the same high quality hosting from us & are sure that the small cost increase is well worth the benefits. Thanks,
Jonathan Matheus

Sean Kearon This is great news. Thanks very much!

Johannes Rudolph Thanks for letting us know Jonathan! AppHarbor lists the new plans, but still displays a "Region not supported" banner at the top. You may want to check back with them, though this is a minor issue :-)

Jon Leigh It doesn't seem possible to view the EU plans without adding credit card details?! Is there a direct link available?
